Hi all, I love fishing but hate the cold.... This year my love for angling is taking over. I live in Calgary and am hungry to get out there. Any suggestions of time and place. The weather this year has been off and on so I wouldn't suspect ice to be thick enough in most lakes yet but on the other hand, I'm a noob to ice fishing. I love pike, walleye and trout but will not complain if I catch anything :)
This is my first post here, seems the comunity is pretty big so I am hoping to get a response.
Thanks everyone, happy holidays!

Welcome to the forum , and Happy New Year to you, hoping to get lots of fishing in, but Calgary and area been a tad warm lately, like 10c today, wow, we might all have to wait for spring fishing if this continues. Any questions, lots of members from the Calgary area who have favorite fishing spots and hopefully there will share this year ( didn't last year) .

Happy new year to everyone. I am new on this post, however I have been fly fishing, spin and ice fishing Alberta waters for many years. I am new to the Edmonton area and was looking for a great walleye spot for ice fishing that is close to home. Any thoughts?
Thanks Chimo

One thing I have noticed is that there are not many posts from the lethbridge area. Ice conditions are not the best in this area either, especially when you have days of above zaro temps and blistering chinook winds.

Good day to a few of you I may already know from a few years back as DMC from Edmonton/Pigeon Lake.
Hope you all are well!
Want to try ice fishing Gull lake and heard the North end was good for Pike and Whites. Is this true or does anyone else know a good spot to take my son and nephew?
Thanks in advance!

We are heading to sylvan lake this weekend, chasing rumours of white fish and pretty decent walleye. Lots of posts on ifish alberta about both sylvan and gull lake, ice is 12 inches plus thick (again rumours) and the weather is supposed to be pretty nice. Wish us luck, I'll post our findings Cheers
